“I will exalt you, my God the King, I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol you for ever and ever. Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise, his greatness no one can fathom. One generation will commend your work to another, they will tell of your mighty acts.” (Psalm 145:3-4)
The long recorded and very rich history of the historic Union Baptist Church of Cincinnati, clearly denotes consecrated and committed Christian people, beginning with our fourteen pioneers, who constructed the charter membership of this church back on July 21, 1831, and continuing to the present, whose lives were either directly or indirectly blessed through the Christ-centered, Bible-based and Holy Spirit filled ministry of this church. Jesus Christ, who says in Matthew 16:18, “…upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” was and is the foundation of our beliefs and commitment to God and to all humanity. “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (I Corinthians 3:11)
The church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord;
she is his new creation by water and the Word.
From heaven he came and sought her to be his holy bride;
with his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died.
Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of her war,
she waits the consummation of peace forevermore;
till, with the vision glorious, her longing eyes are blest,
and the great church victorious shall be the church at rest.
AS WE WELCOME YOU TO UNION, my prayer and the prayers of His people is that we will continue by the power of the Holy Spirit and by the grace of God “To serve the Lord in this present age.” Amen.
